Curriculum: Mother Brunner offers its students a core curriculum of Reading, Math, Science, Social, Religion, and Computer skills, along with Physical Education, Music, and Art. Christian values and pertinent life skills are integrated throughout the curriculum.
Faculty and Staff: All classroom teachers are state licensed and certified in Religion from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The average teacher has been teaching for over 15 years.
Sacramental Programs: Second graders go through sacramental preparation for First Communion. Junior high students have the opportunity for confirmation preparation. All children participate in a weekly school Mass.
STEP Programs: STEP provides academic enrichment to those students identified as academically and creatively talented. This pull-out program involves grades 3-8. Students work on various critical and deductive thinking skills, as well as analogies, reasoning skills, and the logic area. In addition, an ongoing unit of study, going into in-depth research and exploration of a particular subject, is involved for students. A highly-trained certified specialist guides this group of students that is supported by parents and school.
High School Preparation: 75% of the 2013 class attends Chaminade-Julienne High School
Special Needs: Students showing reading or academic difficulty are referred to a reading specialist or the school psychologist for evaluation. If the evaluation results indicate intervention (tutoring) is needed, an appropriate education intervention is developed. This may be a remedial reading class for the reading specialist or small groups sessions designed to deal with the weakness. In all cases, parents are involved with the referral process to the development program.
Children who demonstrate serious problem and/or language, i.e., expressing themselves or processing what is spoken, may be referred to a Speech Language Pathologist for assessment. Parents are involved through the referral process. If therapy is indicated, a plan is developed with parent involvement to deal with the area of need.
Lunch Program: Mother Brunner participates in the Federal Lunch Program. Nutritious lunches are available daily at reasonable prices.
Transportation: Bus transportation is available from most of the public school districts to our school.
Extended Care: Mother Brunner offers extended care for students. The before school program is available from 6:30 a.m. and the afternoon program runs until 6 p.m. Students are accepted on a regular or on a drop-in basis.
Uniform: The school has a defined school uniform policy for all students.
Parents Participation: Parents are urged to volunteer. There are many opportunities ranging from tutoring, coaching, as well as with the Home and School Association.
